april 2016 hib30 challenge winner keen

Hike it Baby would like to thank our incredible Title Sponsors at KEEN for the prizes that they generously donated for the April 2016 HiB30 Challenge drawing! Congratulations to Samantha Cordry, the lucky winner picked at random from everyone who participated in this month’s HiB Challenge. This is what she had to say about her experience with this Challenge.

You won a pair of adult and a pair of kids shoes of your choice from our Title Partner at KEEN. How are you going to use it?

We are so excited and can’t wait to go on many more hikes!

How did joining the HiB30 Challenge make a difference in how your family got outside in April?

The Challenge gave our competitive side a reason to remember to hike more miles and get outside everyday.

Do you have a favorite hiking spot? Did you discover any new places during the Challenge?

We discovered so many new spots because we tried to find a new area every weekend to go explore.

Tell us about the top 3 moments of the Challenge that stick out for you (the good, the bad, or the ugly!).

Getting the whole family out to enjoy the beauty of outside, exploring new areas, exceeding our mileage goals!  Oh, and ALWAYS make sure you remember the carrier/stroller, I forgot it once.

KEEN is a proud sponsor of Hike it Baby. They support and promote the mission to get families outdoors and back into nature.  Here is what Erin Simons, Kid’s Business Unit Director for KEEN Kids, has to say about HiB and KEEN Kids:

Hike it Baby represents all the wonderful benefits of the outdoors…and then some. The fresh air, the community of support, the positivity, the imaginative play our kids engage in, the wonder and awe of childhood. KEEN Kids is happy to be associated with an organization that’s making such a positive impact in our communities and connecting families to the beauty of the natural world.

KEEN Kids believes kids have the right to be kids, to learn through discovery, to feel the sense of pride in figuring things out. We stand for adventure, imagination, simplicity, dirt, awe, hope…we want our kids to experience the natural world with Boundless Wonder.

At KEEN Kids, we strive to extend the magical time families spend outside so we make shoes that withstand outdoor adventures and are developmentally appropriate to each age.

Here are some shoe fitting tips brought to you by KEEN Kids:

MEASURE – Always measure both feet (as often one can be a bit larger than the other!) – Fit your KEENs to the larger foot
CLOSURE – Ease of entry and an adjustable closure make for a secure fit that stays on your feet
TOE BOX – Toes should be able to wiggle freely and comfortably
GROWING ROOM – a good rule of ‘thumb’ is literally 1/2 to the full length of your thumb nail or approx 1/2 an inch
COMFORT – flexible, soft and breathable shoes all make for happy, healthy growing feet
