First family hike was a hit. We had 24 people total with more Dad’s than moms! We started at Lower Macleay park and hiked up to the stone house and then down and headed to Lucky Lab Brewery. The weather behaved and so we stayed dry and babies slept as we hiked along in the lovely fall afternoon.
Having the Dad’s along was a nice addition for the group because it was fun to see the Dad side of the babies after getting to know the moms. In the Alma new mama group I know a few of us talked about how it was hard for our hubbys and partners to meet other dad’s because they didn’t have a group like we do. We are new to Portland, so it was a nice way for my hubby Mark to be able to meet new people and not feel like it was a forced dinner situation or party. Hiking is one of those easy places where everyone can just get along and breath fresh air.
This hike was a carrier only hike and we did about 3.5 miles with the walk to the brewery. Our next hike is Oak’s Bottom Refuge in SELLWOOD. Hoping some of you can make it! Should be a sunny week so see you all out there 10am.
We are looking for more people to lead hikes, so please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org or post on Facebook page.
