Tell us about your favorite hike in th
e world

My husband and I did an epic hike in Waterton Lakes National Park during our honeymoon. It was to the top of a peak that looked into Glacier Park. It felt like we were on top of the world. I’ll never forget it.

Favorite Hike it Baby moment so far?
Meeting other mamas that prioritize getting their kids put into nature.

What is the best advice for a new hiking family?
Start small when your kids are little and gradually increasing won’t seem so daunting.

What are your hiking goals for 2015?
Try new hikes in our area.

Got a favorite trail trick?
Diaper, wipes and back up Baggie that fit right in my carrier. Came into good use just last weekend!

What is a hiking/outdoors accomplishment with baby that you are most proud of?
I went cross country skiing with my son when he was a month old. It’s the same as walking for me so I just strapped him on and off we went!

What is the most outrageous thing that has ever happened on a hike!?
Probably my son’s near blowout last weekend that was saved by my stash mentioned above.  He loved an open air, picnic table diaper change. : )

Why is it important to you to have your kiddo out in nature?
It’s how I grew up. I feel that it gave me respect for nature and confidence that I can take care of myself. Also teaches you to be aware of what is around you.

What kind of gear do you always suggest people get?
I’m new to the game but having a carrier that he was comfortable in has allowed us to get going from the beginning.

Warm clothes for Paul and the big cheap down jacket that I got while I was pregnant and then was able to zip over him in the carrier once he was born.

How has Hike it Baby influenced other aspects of your life?
We got out SO much more last month with the challenge than we would have without it. I’ve also enjoyed meeting others with similar interests.

Thanks to our partner Discrete for giving Cierra a Banger Beanie
