We just wrapped up another great Hike it Baby 30 Challengethe first one of 2018!  We’d like to thank our Hike it Baby Gold Sponsors for the great prizes they provided for January’s Hike it Baby 30 (HiB 30) Challenge. The winning participants were entered into the prize drawings simply by signing up to achieve 30 miles in 30 days OR spend 30 minutes outside 3 times per week with their families.

Hike it Baby hosts the HiB30 Challenge four times per year. Families from all over the globe come together to challenge themselves and encourage each other, forming a supportive and inspiring community. Over the course of January’s challenge, 707 families achieved a grand total of 9,500 miles and 440,00 minutes outside.  That’s amazing!

THANK YOU TO THESE GOLD SPONSORS FOR HELPING MOTIVATE FAMILIES TO GET OUTSIDE!

Deuter

Oaki

Babyganics

This is what our winners, Brittany Cape, Beck and Amanda Gittleson, had to say about January’s HiB30 Challenge:

HOW ARE YOU GOING TO USE YOUR PRIZE?

Brittany (Oaki): Splashing and playing in rain puddles!

Beck (Deuter): I’d really love to do an overnight with Smalls.

Amanda (Babyganics): To diaper and pamper my babies! We already love and use babyganics products in our home, so they will be well used!

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM THE HIB30 CHALLENGE THIS JANUARY?

Brittany: Getting outside more with my little!

Beck: Walking my old dog while pulling the kiddo on a sled as she drags a stick in the snow.

Amanda: Our trip to the zoo on a random 50+ degree winter day.

DID YOU HAVE ANY CHALLENGES TO OVERCOME? IF SO, HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?

Brittany: It was COLD. Lots of layers!

Beck: Well, we’re often out alone in the cold weather, so overcoming the lack of social fun to make the outdoors seem like a great destination was hard. Our tiny neighborhood pond froze and was fun for exploring.

Amanda: Yes, just getting out! It’s been so very cold this year so far.

WHAT IS YOUR NUMBER ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO OTHER FAMILIES UNSURE ABOUT GETTING OUTSIDE FOR 30 MINUTES 3 TIMES PER WEEK OR ACHIEVING 30 MILES IN 30 DAYS?

Brittany: Do it!! January was our first challenge, and it really helped to get us outside despite the temperatures.

Beck: Do whatever it takes to go out, from chocolate bribes for kids to four cups of coffee for you. But make sure your gear keeps you comfy! The hardest part is getting out the door, but if everyone is miserable, it will be harder next time.

Amanda: Just do it! Make it part of the routine and you will see benefits immediately (i.e., babes sleeping better).

Thank you to all who joined us for the HiB30 Challenge this January! Join us next time and be entered to win some great prizes. The next HiB30 Challenge begins on April 1, so mark your calendars!
