Winner Profile - Bethany Steiner Congratulations to Bethany and Cameron from Hike it Baby Golden. They participated in the HiB30 March Challenge and won a Nordic Headband from Skida!

Tell us about your favorite hike in the world
I am so blessed to live in CO where there are thousands & thousands of miles of trails. Nearly every hike is breathtakingly beautiful. My favorite hike is the one I have yet to do!

What is the best advice for a new hiking family?
Just have fun! It’s fine to set small goals, but we all know that babies might have other plans for our day.

What are your hiking goals for 2015?
1. I just got a book of best CO hikes with kids and would like to complete many of them this year.

2. I would like for my newly walking 1-yr old to hike on his own as much as possible.

3. If we complete at least one 14,000 ft mountain hike I will be excited.

What is a hiking/outdoors accomplishment with baby that you are most proud of?
I was pretty proud to carry my little guy in my hiking pack for the first time. It always seemed a little intimidating to me, but after I completed a hike with him in the pack the first time I felt super strong & excited to try it again.

Why is it important to you to have your kiddo out in nature?
Being out in nature is so important for all of us. It helps keep us grounded, keeps anxiety levels low, helps us appreciate and respect Mother Nature, etc. I hope encouraging my son to be outside as much as possible at a young age will carry with him the rest of his life.

What kind of gear do you always suggest people get?
I love my child carrier pack and little rearview mirrors to see how he is doing.

How has Hike it Baby influenced other aspects of your life?
HIB has encouraged me to follow through with my goals. Some days that might be just being able to take a shower (eek!) Some days that might be completing a 2 hour hike.

Thanks to our partner Skida for the awesome Nordic Headband!
