Winner Profile Emma Loftus (1)Tell us about your favorite hike in the world.
I loved hiking Cathedral Spires off of Needles Hwy nestled in the middle of the Black Hills National Forest. I haven’t done it in a few years but hope to get back to the Black Hills more this summer with my daughter.

Favorite Hike it Baby moment so far?
Every time I connect with new mamas or friends and get out and get moving with them. I also enjoy a nice walk with my daughter and sometimes husband too. We are very new to Hike it Baby and looking forward to starting a new chapter in NE Wyoming soon!

What is the best advice for a new hiking family?
Just get out and do it when you feel like it. Even going for a short walk is better than no walk. Some days we get so busy we lose sight of what’s important and need to slow down and going for that walk can really help. I am currently a work in progress doing just this!

What are your hiking goals for 2015?
To move more with my daughter and show her an outdoor active lifestyle. We have a tendency to get so busy that sometimes it is quite hard to fit everything in, but I want her to learn to slow down and enjoy those moments. I don’t have a set mileage or time goal, but I know I just want to move more. I used to be much more active and I am working at getting back to that!

Got a favorite trail trick?
Still new to hiking with baby so no real tricks yet.

What is a hiking/outdoors accomplishment with baby that you are most proud of?
Completing a half marathon last summer while wearing and pushing her (5 months old at the time). I jogged most of it to be able to keep up with my friend and nursed a few times to keep baby happy! She slept most of the rest of the time.

Why is it important to you to have your kiddo out in nature?
I want them to enjoy nature and appreciate their surroundings.

What kind of gear do you always suggest people get?
I love my Beco Gemini and I always suggest finding a carrier you love!

How has Hike it Baby influenced other aspects of your life?
Just trying to be up and moving more!

Thank you Emma! Also, a huge thanks to our partners at Oakiwear! Remember, if you want to try to win awesome prizes like the one featured here you have to join in on the next HiB30 Challenge! You can also purchase Oakiwear gear in our online shop. Check it out!
