30That moment when you realize that Hike it Baby has become such an enormous factor in your life. This is one of those trail conversations that could go on for hours! Let’s keep it up with a recurring blog post. Here is what some of our fellow HiB members have to say about reasons they know that they are HiB Hikers!

You know you’re a HiB Mama when…I set my alarm for 7am, actually wake my sleeping child and drive over an hour because there’s a hike scheduled!    Joey Johnson Salt Lake City Branch

When you’ve rescheduled your child’s well baby visit with the pediatrician because you accidentally doubled booked yourself and can’t bring yourself to cancel the hike on the calendar!     Lora Waloski – SLC

You wake up at 5am to your kid’s face three inches from your own and he says, “We need to go hiking. We need to make our bodies stronger.”    Rapid City

You schedule hikes around baby’s nap schedule because baby naps best in a back carry.     Rapid City

The kids always ask if you’re going on a hike every time you get in the car 🙂    Kimberly Santagata Anchorage

When you plan your whole week around all the hikes you want to go on.    Sarah – Aurora, CO

Your child smiles and gives a sound of excitement when you get out the Onya!    Sara McSheehy Anchorage Branch

When I plan my family errands around my weekly hikes.  “Sorry honey, I didn’t have time to grocery shop, we had a hike.  Let’s order pizza.”    Hampton Roads

“your baby knows how to use a hydration pack.
you check the HiB calendar before you commit to any plans with friends
you look up HiB branch locations when you are on vacation and are disappointed to find no branches in Maui ; (”    Jacqueline Moga – Houston, TX

It’s never too hot, cold or wet to GET OUTSIDE!    Courtney (&Jackson) Houston, TX

Your friends know not to even bother inviting you to Chick Fil A play dates anymore.    Amanda Zuber – Houston

You’re buying your infant new clothes and you think, will this keep him cool enough on hikes? (We’re in Texas!)    Victoria Good – Houston

Your husband says “can we please drive to the pool?” And I start adding up the miles I’ve done for the month to see if I need the miles for my 30 day challenge.    Lori Maculo, Houston

You clean out your cheerio covered car and move around your carseat to make room for the mama’s and kiddos who need rides to hikes.  Being one a one car family is tough!!  Having mama’s in our branch willing to give rides to complete strangers so they can enjoy hikes too is awesome!!      Hampton Roads

You join the HIB Facebook Groups in all the cities you are traveling to this summer so that you can get family friendly hiking recommendations from across the country!    Melinda Guinn, Pittsburgh

I plan my week around the HIB hikes!    Elena Bersani/Hampton Roads

You know you are a HiB Hiker when your baby prefers to fall asleep in your Onya baby carrier. Thank goodness it’s easy to take everywhere!  Bailey Ludlam Salt Lake City HiB Branch

When everyday of the week is a HIB event or you two year old says “we go on a hike?” Everytime we get ready.

You see brown national forest signs with a hiker on them on road trips and feel compelled to check out every trail. “I have to scout it, honey,” you tell your husband but really you just want to check out new sights and trails. 🙂

You know you’re a HIB hiker when your 2 year old can point out Mt. Rainier from just about anywhere, she has told me her babydoll likes to go hiking and one of her favorite phrases while driving in the car is “Ooh MOUNTAINS, I go climb it.”

When your husband asks your 2.5 year old daughter “What would you like to do today?” And she responds “Go on a hike with you Dad!”
