We are excited to announce our Pride Community Fun

We are excited to announce our Pride Community Fundraiser for this year, benefitting @bravetrails! 🙌

Brave Trails is an awesome nonprofit, dedicated to connecting LGBTQ+ youth to their people, place and passion! They offer a variety of programs including summer camps in California and Maryland, family camp, mentorship programs and year-round leadership programming. Their programming fosters a variety of ways to safely build community as well as build leadership youth skills. In addition to all of this amazing work they already have going on to support the LGBTQ community, they are also working on rolling out a LGBTQ+ youth mental health program in the fall!

Creating a connection to nature for our kiddos doe

Creating a connection to nature for our kiddos doesn’t require fancy adventure gear or pristine destinations.

We believe that creating a true connection begins with seeing and knowing the nature that is nearest to you. The trees on your street, the names of the flowers that pop out of the sidewalk. The bird you hear calling outside your window.

This May, we hope you’ll join us in a month-long celebration of the biodiversity that is all around us. We are partnering with #backyardbio and @ebtsoyp in their national citizen science project and it’s PERFECT for families to join.

All you have to do is get outside 🌳, take a photo 📸 of the nature you see, and share it! Make it an hour, a day, a week, and get out and learn the names of the nature nearest you.

Hike it Baby is a BIG community, we have branches all over the country, in small towns and large cities.

Because of this, many of us may not be aware that for a lot of families even the word “hiking” feels foreign, like something only wealthy families do, and it is a reality that hits harder for urban communities and communities of color.

This Earth Day 🌎, we are honored to share a petition from the @trustforpublicland . Their “All in for Outdoors” campaign asks Congress to invest in the creation or upgrade of 1000 parks across the country in the communities that need it most.

We know that getting families outside needs to start with nearby nature, with the city parks, the easy-to-access public green spaces, with exactly the places this petition supports. Because caring about nature starts with feeling connected to it, wherever you are.

We encourage you to learn more about the Parks, Jobs, and Equity Act, and support this bipartisan effort. Learn more at the link in our bio.👆

@Becca_Outdoors shares "why you should start hiking with your baby now rather than waiting:

👶 Babies only get heavier as they get older. (My son’s weight was one of the main reasons I was hesitant to hike with him...I wasn’t sure I was strong enough. BUT I was able to build up my strength with short hikes to begin with.)

🤫 Babies don’t talk. No 'Are we there yet?' or 'I don’t want to keep going'

🐛 You can cover longer distances compared to when they start walking. #toddlerlife

🌿 You’ll help them get familiar with spending time in the outdoors, and it won’t be as intimidating to them (and you) as they get older. You know your baby best, listen to their needs. But also know that you don’t have to wait until they are older to go on adventures together."
